The Who - Discography - Other - Page 34:

The Who - 1970 <Aborted> LP

Way back in 1970, The Who recorded (5) five songs (see Side 1 above) for an intended EP. Apparently Pete Townshend set up a crowded studio in his Eel Pie Island home garage and Keith Moon names the EP thusly, "Six Foot Wide Garage, Seven Foot Wide Car". The EP was never released, but they tried to repurpose the songs as an LP, with Side 2 being comprised of <unused> "The Who Sell Out" tracks, "Little Billy" (From The Fillmore East 1968) and the studio "Young Man Blues". Interesting combination of songs, sorta like an early "Odds And Sods".

For whatever reason, the album was never released, but in 1974, it was bootlegged as "Radio London" (also known as "The Who vs. The Bizarre Mr. Pig"). The sound quality from the boots varied by pressing (and record label), but was nowhere near the quality of the acetate.

I purchased this acetate (perhaps 20 years ago) from another "hard core" collector. He said, "It's not going to be cheap!" And I think it may have cost me ~$1K. An interesting piece of "Who History".

A few days ago, I was restoring various acetates and it dawned on me that this would be a great project. The sound quality on this was excellent (sans the typical surface noise associated with acetates). Fortunately, I've developed a process to remove the noise and leave only the music. For the most part, remixing these were fairly straight forward, but I struggled with a few (i.e. this AM I realized that "The Seeker" needed its lead guitar separated from its rhythm. The sound just wasn't right and moving the lead to the left channel worked better. Some interesting "parts and pieces" came out of the new mixes (i.e. "I Don't Even Know Myself"), unfortunately, the 30 second samples don't give you the whole flavor. Enjoy!
